The Underground Railroad
The Underground Railroad wasn’t underground, and it sure wasn’t a railroad. It was a rebellion in motion—Black folks, freedmen, and brave allies risking everything to move people from bondage to breath. This wasn’t charity. It was resistance. Quiet houses became safe havens. Forest paths became lifelines. And freedom wasn’t promised at the end—just a fighting chance. Harriet Tubman gets the shine, but this was a network built by hundreds who said no to slavery and yes to humanity, one midnight mile at a time.
